What is Ecocentric Law?
Ecocentric law is a relatively new area of law dedicated to restoring balance between human activities and the natural world. Some people refer to this area of law as “Earth law.” Lawyers have a unique opportunity to support the natural health and wellbeing of their communities by supporting grassroots movements that focus on making the world a better place.
Humans have viewed the Earth as mere property for generations. But the time has come for a new generation of lawyers and lawmakers to support a better balance and interdependency between the Earth and humanity. The legal community is increasingly getting involved in ecocentric topics like:
